Awso Peshdary was arrested on terrorism related charges after being arrested on February 3nd 2015 in Ottawa. A man with a reputation as a radical in his community, Awso Peshdary, a Shia Muslim converted to Sunni Islam was charged with two other Ottawa men believed to be in Syria, Khadar Khalib and John Maguire.
Awso Peshdary and Khadar Khalib have been linked to two other terror suspect arrested in January, Ashton and Carlos Lamond, for plotting to commit a terrorist attack in Canada with the help of another individual named Suliman Mohamed.
Some rumor says that John Maguire would have been killed in Syria in 2014, but the RCMP believes that Maguire is still alive and rejects the rumor of his death.
